I’d bought the lemons a few weeks ago with the idea of making a lemon meringue pie, but ended up making a fig cake instead. The Boofhead has been dropping some rather unsubtle hints that he was running out of lemon butter (one of life’s essentials, don’t you know).
When the Death by Chocolate Sweet Adventures Blog Hop coincided with my Dad’s 60th birthday, I jumped at the chance to make a chocolate tart. I served it with some cinnamon cream, and the gentle chilli spice with the soft dark chocolate filling went down rather well.
While this is a rather gentle lemon tart, I’ve pepped it up slightly with an extra egg yolk and some lemon juice in the filling, which has made it a touch richer and softer than the original. My family and I enjoyed this tart with a buttery glass of champagne this New Year’s Eve.
